This fall, while running around the trails by my house I kept getting distracted by the brilliant vermillion berries of cornus canadensis, or bunchberry. I love the remarkable transition this plant takes on, from the beautifully symmetrical white petaled flowers of the summer to festive berries in the fall, the bunchberry is always a signal that autumn has arrived!
In order to achieve a multi-color print, I used the jigsaw printing method, which means that I physically cut the block apart, inked the pieces separately and then put it back together - like a puzzle - before inking and peeling.

Printed with oil-based, archival quality inks in a velvety black and vibrant red on acid free, natural Lokta paper. This is a sustainable paper, handmade in Nepal, with gorgeous flecks of fiber and texture - due to the handmade nature, sizing is not exact!
